It is much more necessary for the veterinaries to have updated information, since they take important responsibilities in various areas such as animal health, food security, public health. Today, if the information has not been updated, it loses its currency rapidly. Therefore, scientific congresses and similar events constitute significant opportunities for our colleagues to update their knowledge and reach the correct information. Moreover, zoonotic epidemic diseases of the recent years show that the struggles of individual countries against epidemic diseases can not be effective in our globalized world. All countries must carry out a joint struggle and take joint actions against these epidemics. The internationality of the congresses makes substantial and undeniable contributions both to the worldwide sharing of information and experience and to the formation of a sense of joint struggle.
Therefore, “The First International Veterinary Congress and Expo-Vet”, to be organized by the Istanbul Chamber of Veterinary, on
3-6 June 2010, will provide considerable benefits both to our colleagues and our country.
The fact that it is the first international congress with a rich content covering all the matters within the working area of the Veterinary Medicine makes the Congress even more important.
I congratulate and wish success to my colleagues who have contributed their efforts to the organization of this Congress and taken office in the related committees. Wishing a successful Ccongress with a broad participation, I remain,
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Mehmet ALKAN
